In March it was apparent that 2020 was going to be a year of navigating challenges. The Weld Community Foundation and the United Way of Weld County partnered together, just as they had for the 2013 flood relief efforts, and created the Weld Recovers Fund. An initial gift from the Foundation’s Impact Fund of $75,000 began the support-raising effort.
A committee, made up of United Way board members, Foundation board members, and community-at-large participants, was put together to read grant applications and decide nonprofit distribution.
The fund has awarded to 26 Weld nonprofits a total of $317,922 for COVID-19 Relief. Thanks to the generosity of many incredible donors, Weld county nonprofits received the beginnings of necessary aid for 2020.
