Art can be an incredible, educational experience!
Salida del Sol Academy is a K-8 public charter school that opened in September 2014. It is the only dual language (Spanish-English) school in Weld County.
Thanks to the combined generosity of several grants from the Foundation (Arts Alive! and Litter Youth Fund), Greeley artist Armando Silva was commissioned for a 4 week, artist-in-residency with the school in 2019.
Armando engaged with art classes, spending time with students in all grades and created a mural from the relational experience. The residency concluded with two special assemblies of “art performances” that wowed the students.
