Frequently Asked Questions about the Fund
What is the Weld Recovers Fund: COVID-19 Relief?
The Weld Recovers Fund: COVID-19 Relief is being introduced by United Way of Weld County (UWWC) and the Weld Community Foundation (WCF). This fund is designed to provide financial resources to charitable organizations in the Weld County area that are involved in supporting populations that have been affected by the outbreak.
What will the fund be used for?
The COVID-19 Relief Fund will be distributed to non-profit organizations helping people directly impacted by the pandemic. Examples of beneficiaries include (but are not limited to) nonprofits which have experienced increased service levels assisting with:
- Vulnerable populations, particularly homeless communities
- Those at imminent risk of homelessness
- Low-income households
- Older adults
- Those experiencing food insecurity
My organization is interested in resources from this fund. How can we be considered?
UWWC and the WCF will announce the process for requesting funding from the COVID-19 Relief Fund in the coming days, as capital is raised. This announcement will be made via email to agencies, and will be posted on UWWC and WCF social media and websites. However, it should be noted that this fund is designed to make grants only to 501(c)3 non-profits, charitable organizations, and groups fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)3 organization. It is not designed to simply replace lost revenue but to assist with increased service level demands caused by COVID-19.
I am an individual affected by the COVID-19 situation. Can I apply for assistance from this fund?
The fund partners understand the COVID-19 pandemic is having and will continue to have a significant impact on individuals and families in Northern Colorado. The fund partners will work to move resources as quickly as possible to community-based organizations that are directly supporting local families and residents who are most affected. But unfortunately, we cannot offer direct funds to individuals at this time.
May I target my donation to a specific organization?
To ensure we move resources as efficiently as possible and respond to needs of communities most impacted, we are not considering restricted donations at this time. The COVID-19 Relief Fund was created in hopes of providing a way to coordinate as many resources as possible.
Is there a minimum donation amount?
No, a donation of any size helps!
How much of my donation will be used to help people? Is there an administrative fee taken out of my donation?
100% of the donations received will be distributed to help our community; no administrative or processing fees will be removed.
Is there a geographic focus for this fund?
The COVID-19 Relief Fund will provide funding for organizations in Weld County.
When will you announce funding decisions?
We expect grants from this fund will be made on a rolling basis, beginning with an initial round of grants within the next few weeks. We will publish the names of grantees and more information on a regular basis.
Who will be making funding decisions?
A volunteer committee made up of community members will make all funding decisions, and UWWC and WCF staff will facilitate the process.
